Reiki Stories

Welcome to Reiki Stories. Here you will find an ongoing account of many of the fabulous healing experiences and adventures of my Reiki students as they bring Reiki out into their parts of the world. I know how inspired I am when I read about the many ways that Reiki has been put to use, and I often find that new situations, both professional and personal,  present themselves to me for healing in response to the stories that I read.

My goals for this page are simple. First, that what you read here will give my students an opportunity to realize just how meaningful their choice to be attuned to Reiki has been—and to truly feel that they are part of a larger whole. Second, I want to inspire the world to seek out Reiki, and I know of no better way to succeed in this endeavor than by sharing stories of Reiki at work, in all its colors and hues. SO, if a story that you read here has inspired you, please email me at entertheflow@gmail.com and let me know how!

As a way to inaugurate this site, here’s a story from my life that is fresh off the dentist’s chair!

Last weekend, I cracked one of my molars and lost a considerable amount of tooth. My life experience with dentistry is one that has been fear-ridden at certain times.  My dentist and his staff are as compassionate as they are skillful, so I knew that I would get through whatever I needed to, but sitting in that chair this morning before it all began was challenging. I tuned in to my Reiki and spirit guides and was told to put my hands on my thighs, which was easy and comfortable. The first thing that went well was that we switched from using the rubber dam (used to keep foreign objects from going down the throat, but problematic for me and my swallowing) to a “new” technique that my dentist had created that he said would work just fine. Phew… it did! The drilling had to begin, of course, but the amount of the high speed drill (which often can produce the heating that activates the tooth nerves) was actually somewhat minimal (!) and the slower drills did not seem to be so bothersome in the pain-in-the-tooth department. Then my jaw began to shake (happens every time), and I suddenly heard my guides saying, “Use CKR” (abbreviation for the Reiki power symbol). Two things happened right away: my dentist suddenly remembered that I might need a neck bolster, and we came to the end of the drilling.

From that moment on, I felt the familiar relaxation that comes when the Reiki is flowing in a certain way, and I came as close as I have ever come to understanding how my friend, Diane, can fall asleep in the dentist’s chair! My eyes closed and my body relaxed and although there were still moments of brief discomfort, they were outside of my old frame of reference and did not cause me any problems. I was really elated. The dentist found some decay beneath the old filling, so it was actually a good thing that the cracked tooth brought me there. And, if that weren’t enough, the morning’s procedure cost exactly what I had told my angels I wanted to pay!

Here’s my story. My grandmother wanted to give her Siberian Husky mix a bath, so we got treats and tried to get her in the bath tub. We tried everything, holding the treats out in the tub, lifting her in. It all failed, but when my grandmother left to get more treats, I told her “I will give you Reiki if you get in the tub.” She just gave me a look that said it all, and jumped into the tub without a struggle. My grandmother was amazed, but hey, what else was I going to do?

Some time ago I created this wonderful space in my home to relax and meditate in. Up until recently this lovely space hadn’t been used as much as I had intended.

It was time to purposefully meditate everyday. I set forth with this intention. The other day was the “first day” of putting my new intention in place. My plan was to meditate ONLY, nothing else.  However, apparently the Universe had other intentions for me. When I was nearing the end of my meditation I was thinking I would come back later to do self-Reiki. But no, that wasn’t to be. The self-Reiki started without me. It just simply started, leaving me no choice but to continue on with it.

It appears that my new morning protocol will, thus forth, include self-Reiki immediately following meditation!

The other day, I was preparing to do self-Reiki in a lovely, warm, sunny room. My cat, Sid, was sleeping soundly, enjoying the sun on this cold New England afternoon. Sid is not a “lap” cat. He loves attention, but doesn’t like to be held. I sat on the front edge of a comfortable chair, preparing to start. The next thing I know, Sid wakes up and looks me intently in the eye. He hops off the bed where he was sleeping, jumps up on the chair, walks behind me, settles himself snugly up against my back, and lets me know that he is ready for me to start. Sid is 10 years young and has NEVER done anything like this before. He clearly wanted to share in my session—which I was thrilled, of course, to do. What bliss!!!

I offered a Reiki session to a good friend who had never had a Reiki session before who has a house on a lake.  She had a twin size bed to use, and I was able to use a stool that was the perfect height. As I started the Reiki session, I could hear the background sounds of the birds in the trees and the duck on the lake quacking, the occasional boat that passed by and occasionally hear some people talking; there was soft music playing in the house. Shortly after doing my beginning ritual, I could feel the warmth starting in my hands and could feel the heat generated within my body.  Then when I cradled her head in my hands, in a short period of time, I felt a slight buzzing in both hands which at first unnerved me a little. But I kept my hands there and the buzzing continued, and I was getting very warm to the point that I was starting to sweat. I could feel the sweat start to trickle down my back. Then, as I continued to move down through the front hand positions, the buzzing in my hands intensified. Now I was very hot and I had sweat trickling down the back and the front of me. It was the most amazing feeling. She fell sound asleep.  I did her whole front side. After about 45 minutes I finished and brought her back. She was so relaxed and wanted to just lay there longer. As I was sitting with her the buzzing was still continuing intently in my hands. I’ve never felt anything like that before, and it lasted for a long time afterward.
